Good Earth Plants has specialized in containerized “plantscapes” (anything in a pot or planter) with award winning service and design since 1977. We specify, install and maintain a myriad of specimen plants in a wide variety of planters for clients such as Qualcomm, Sempra and our most recent project, the Old Police Headquarters (a Wimmer Yamaha and Caughey project) in downtown San Diego.

Starting in 2003, our interest in green roofs and subsequently living walls precipitated the creation of our newest branch: Greenscaped Buildings. After several years of investigation and travel, in 2007 we retrofitted a green roof on our existing building that became San Diego’s (and perhaps all of California’s) first permitted green roof.

Having gained the experience (and making a few mistakes on ourselves) we have completed over two dozen green roofs for Sharp Memorial Hospital (Schmidt Design Group) and UCSD’s Fallen Star (Spurlock Poirier), and multiple residential clients.

After creating and installing an edible wall for Chef Mario Batali’s Pizzeria Mozza restaurant in Hollywood in 2010, we’ve created, installed and maintained living and edible walls throughout Southern California and as far away as Seattle, Dallas and (very soon) Atlanta. Local projects include the living wall at Fashion Valley Mall (Mission Landscapes), Thomas Jefferson School of Law (Nowell and Associates), SDG&E Energy Resource Center (Spurlock Poirier) and recently Pure Fitness at the Westgate Hotel (KTU+A).

We are eager to share our experience and knowledge with you. Six green roof systems and over two dozen living wall systems will be displayed for you. Our professional and knowledgeable staff will be present including President Jim Mumford (Certified Landscape Professional CLP and Certified Green Roof Professional GRP), Architect Kerry Bauer (LEED AP), Plantscape Operations Manager Debbie Hopkins (30+ years of experience), and other helpful staff members ready to answer your questions.

RSVP now and join us on Thursday, July 17 for this special ASLA event. To RSVP for the event go through ASLA San Diego online here. You do not need to be an ASLA member to attend, but you must be a professional architect, landscape architect or interior designer.
