Working A Little Plantscaping Magic In Arizona

Can you tell if these plants are real or replica?

Sometimes the best solution for one of our clients is a blend of multiple approaches in a customized design.

Good Earth Plant Company recently worked with a San Diego dispensary client with locations in multiple states. For its Tempe, Arizona location, “Tend Tempe,” we needed to find ways to incorporate plants into their facility where the conditions weren’t optimal. Working with Basille Studios on the details, we decided a blend of real and replica (or “faux”) plants would work best.

An “illusion” was created with our materials. Where there was enough light and/or enough access to provide ongoing maintenance, we used living plants. We worked with the design team to determine the correct light levels and intensity to keep the plants alive and healthy.

But where this wasn’t possible, or our choices were limited, we incorporated high quality replica plants. There are not your old silk plants from the 1980s. It’s nearly impossible to tell the difference unless you get a close up look and feel the leaves. Even then, people are surprised when they realize the plants aren’t living.

Living ficus trees from a Phoenix nursery were held for six months while construction was completed before planting.

The three large ficus trees were sourced locally at a Phoenix nursery and held for six months while construction was completed.

We used Amstel King ficus trees. After they settle into their new home, they will be trimmed to fit the space.

The replica ruscus and ficus Lyrata plants were shaped and staged off-site and delivered and installed within the same day as the rest of the project.

Working with our local partners Joe Zazzera and Brad Heinicke of Plant Solutions in Phoenix, Arizona, Good Earth Plant Company completed the installation for a happy customer with an attractive storefront for its customers.
